Welcome to Life’s Learning!

An exploration of life’s meaningful lessons from the simple daily and big life experiences as well as the follow your bliss moments. Life’s Learning is dedicated to learning for everyone, counselors and business. I also have a counseling practice, based out of Spokane, Washington.

In my work as a counselor, coinciding with my walk through life, I have learned that there are lessons that present themselves to us on a daily basis. There is so much that we can learn from each other in how we relate with the world and each other on our personal journeys. I am inspired daily by the human spirit and the ability to achieve, inspire, overcome, connect and persevere.

With learning never complete and always the potential for self growth, this site will also be an unfolding of what I learn or how others inspire me along the way. Some of the goals for this site are noted below:

History and Work Experience

Professionally, I have worked within the human service field for over 25 years. I worked for Children’s Home Society of Washington for over 19 years, providing counseling services to kids, adults and families and was involved with program development and clinical supervision for 9 of these years. Additionally, I have been in private practice for 20 years and have taught adjunct graduate level courses at 3 local universities. I have a passion for people, their stories and and a wish to inspire personal growth. I have worked with kids as young as 3 and adults into their senior years. I have also provide couples, family and group work.

I have a Masters of Science Degree, a minor in Alcohol/Drug Studies and I am licensed in Washington and in the past with Maryland. I am a Certified as a Board Certified Tele-Mental Health provider, allowing me to provide HIPAA compliant Telehealth services to Washington State Residents.

I would describe myself as a counselor that is existential at my core, drawing from Jungian, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioral principles, just to name a few.   I believe that there is beauty in everyone, that difficulties can be overcome and that life can be both challenging and beautiful at the same time.  I have been witness to stories of strength and healing from all kinds

I am trained with various evidenced based practices., such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence based trauma modality. I have also received training in Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Methods and draw from Imago Therapies with couples.  I have been certified as a Sandplay Therapist Practitioner in the past and have provided both Sandplay Therapy and training with this and various other counseling topics since 2001.

I value the relationship I have with clients, colleagues, supervisees and believe that this serves as the foundation for this valuable work that I am graced to be able to do.  I see the counseling process as sacred in the sense of holding space and being present with each client, couple or family that I have the honor to get to work with.

Counseling is tailored to each individual consumer and modalities or theories drawn from are based solely on their identified needs.
