I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Maryland. I provide clinical supervision to Washington State counselors. I have provided clinical supervision since 2004, both in an agency child/family agency setting and private practice. My counseling experience has been in working with kids, teens, families, groups, adults and couples. Outside of private practice, I also worked in an agency setting with kid’s and their family’s for over 19 years. I have also taught adjunct for 3 universities in the Spokane, Washington area. I also served as the Washington Counseling Association (WCA) President for over 3 years. It is these experiences that I draw from in the clinical supervision I provide.
I also run a Facebook page for counselors, where I post about learning and inspiration within our profession, across a diverse number of topics. Please join myself and other counselors at: https://www.facebook.com/LifesLearningforCounselors
My personal style for supervision are fourfold:
1) Honoring your individual strengths and drawing from them to provide support to you to learn and grow personally and professionally (these go hand-in-hand in the work that we do, in my opinion). Drawing also from the strengths of your consumers as you navigate support for them.
2) Providing a balance of being a “soft place to land” and being forthright, compassionate and honest with feedback.
3) Providing a disciplined form of supervision to identify your needs and respond to these in the time alloted for each supervision meeting.
4) Providing education or access to resources tailored to each individual client.
Clinical supervision is primarily offered to Washington State Counselors who are working towards licensure or who would like to consult on cases. Services are provided online, face-to-face for those who have limited supervision resources in their area or who prefer online supervision. Services require a written contract.
